Just a quicky!

This is just a list of quick reviews I have seen fairly recently and decided to rate although I haven't gone into much detail!


We Bought a Zoo: based on the book by Benjamin Mee and starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson this story is heart warming, hopeful and touching. A definite. 4 Stars ****


The Tournament: Action packed, exciting but it has been done before, starring Kelly Hu and Robert Carlisle. 3 Stars ***


Mr Poppers Penguins: Not at all what I expected, a witty family film with cute penguins! 4 Stars ****


MI4: Outrageous, completely surreal but with decent action scenes. Not the best. 2 Stars **


Lockout: An excellent part played by former This is England star Joseph Gilgun, the rest was average and had been done before. 3.5 Stars ****


Chronicle: A fresh idea with loads of potential and a kid that cried way to much. Almost. 2 Stars **


The Raven: Similar to the Johnny Depp film From Hell this was a brilliant collision of eloquent wording, a sharp dress sense and a serial killer. Astounding. 4.5 Stars ****


Contraband: Despite being a story line that's been done this was reinvented and with acting skills such as Mark Wahlberg, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Beckinsale's to bring it to life this was a great hit! 4 Stars ****


Underworld Awakening: Everyone I've spoken to who is an Underworld fan liked this. For me there was just something missing. With a heavy heart I can only give this 3.5 Stars ****


Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists: From the makers of Wallace and Gromit this was always going to be good. There's something for everyone. 4 Stars ****


Mirror, Mirror: Despite anticipating Snow White and the Huntsman I was highly impressed by this film, it was funny, different and the costumes were beautifully designed. 4.5 Stars *****


Wrath of the Titans: Better than the first by a mile. Epic, strong and full of handsome men! 5 Stars *****


John Carter: Despite the major flop and millions it lost for Disney, this was Star Wars reinvented . Excellent 4 Stars ****


Fright Night: Not your average vampire movie and that is why it rocks! Filled with cheese layered between humor and sex appeal! 4 Stars ****


Project X: Feels as if you're at the party with them, a few quiet moments and it takes a while to get the party started. Average. 3.5 Stars ****


Safe House: Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds make for a rock solid team. The adverts give nothing away and you are plunged into two hours of mystery and action. 4 Stars ****


Journey 2 The Mysterious Island: An adventure everyone must embark upon, especially if you want to hear the Rock (Dwayne Johnson) sing! Out of this world. 4 Stars ****


Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows: Robert Downey Jr excels himself and pushes this character further into the tainted world of Moriarty. 4 Stars ****


Thor: Only brushes on the Avengers. I wish there were more scenes in Asgard which is beautifully envisioned and crafted. 3 Stars for Asgard ***


Captain America: Touching, heroic and a great set up to the Avengers. 4 Stars ****


The Grey: Liam Neeson graces the cinema screen again to bring us this under advertised gem. Honestly, I wish I had the time to do a full review this was a brutal and tense tale with a poem that will shake your soul. 5 Stars *****


In Time: A mind blowing concept and breath taking acting. 5 Stars *****


Warrior: Not only does this show off Tom Hardy's amazing body but the film is actually pretty good too! Not just for guys who like contact sport, I am a sport avoiding female and I loved it! 5 Stars *****


X-Men First Class: Michael Fassbender makes this film. Still only 3.5 Stars ****


Shame: A artistic film, only for those who have strong stomachs and don't mind lots of nudity. On the plus side Fassbender gets naked, always a bonus! This is dark and unsettling. 3 Stars ***


Coriolanus: Yet another Shakespearean hit turned into a modern day movie keeping the dialogue as it were. I found it difficult to understand yet it was moving, dark and treacherous. Ralph Fiennes and Gerrard Butler lend themselves well to the Shakespearean tongue, Fiennes especially who proves himself tenfold. 4 Stars ****


Intruders: An epic fail. Clive Owen is usually a hit or miss, this was an unfortunate miss. With the potential to do so well this film missed the mark by a long shot. Predictable, corny and not in the slightest bit scary. 1 Star * 


Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance: Another film that failed to impress, taking the cringe worthy parts from the first film and instead of making them funny turning them into awful bits of acting and a horrible plot. Not recommended 1 Star *


The Awakening: Slightly over shadowed by the release of Dream House, nevertheless this was a good horror/thriller with an intriguing twist. 3 Stars ***


By all means don't take my word for it, watch them yourself and let your mind take you wherever it may. Look out for some joint book and film reviews including the highly anticipated Hunger Games!
